Short Rant on Deepwater Explosion (BP Oil Spill)
Summed up in 10 words or less: mistakes, carelessness and not being prepared for the worst….
In the wake of the BP oil spill….I sit and look at some of the images. Black water, dying animals, people with puzzled looks on their faces; it all makes me want to scream “WTH!”
And why are we so reactive in this country (instead of proactive)? Just seems like there should be a protocol for disasters (just for those big things): the safety of human life, animal life, LIFE! Hello…?
I did read in recent news, that the President has assigned some sort of bipartisan task force to investigate how to prevent future spills.
My question is; why don’t these big companies or private entities who tap into planet earth’s natural resources (to sell the resource back to us) have to come up with an acceptable plan in case of situations like this. I know that there are issues more complicated than the public perceives, but a “shut off valve” just seems too freakin easy!
Hundreds of thousands of barrels of oil spewing into the ocean will have grave effects on the planet; it should be an eye opener on the offshore drilling dilemma. Prayerfully, they come up with ways to clean up this mess.
And fine them!!! Fines, fines and more fines!!!
Yeah it’s truly depressing that our society is made up of those who do without regard for the consequences of their actions, those who do nothing except react after things are done to them and those who shout truth to power whiile the final group drowns then out claiming we must be patient and not rock the boat because there is a cost for posperity.
